login failed : imap connection
« on: September 11, 2007, 05:18:49 AM »
Hello world !

I just installed roundcube on my server and i can't make it work. In fact you 'll probably won't be able to help me, but i'll give it a try
I constantly get the "login failed" messag when entering my login and pass in roundcube.
I never succeeded ATM.

When i put "debug" in "show" i can see this message :
"IMAP Error: Could not connect to imap.altern.org at port 143: Connection timed out"

But what is weird is that i succeeded in acceding my altern mail using same imap adress, same port, username and password using an IMAP count in Lotus Notes. And at the same moment , it's really doesn't seem to be a temporary error.

So i thought maybe i just misconfigured roundcube ?
What setting could be involved ?

with a simple search "connection timed out" on this forum i found at least 4 other cases similar to mine but no answer.
it may finally be related to roundcube.

just so you know i only have access to phpmyadmin and ftp, no terminal access.

It seems strange to me to put localhost as my imap server, since i want to access my webmail client
roundcube is installed on a shared server, i don't think i have the rights to install an imap server anyway.

I'll give it a try though, as i don't what else to do.
