how to save emails sent by smtp to the Sent folder?
« on: February 13, 2023, 11:21:48 AM »
Hi
Using Roundcube webmail client. Messages sent get logged to Sent folder fine.  When a 3rd party email client is used (e.g. gmail) and send emails, the emails get delivered, show the correct From address, but there is no trace of them in the Sent folder on the webmail.  This means that its impossible to know from the webmail interface whether an email has been replied to or see the reply.  It sounds like such a basic requirement, but I cannot figure out what I need to do to get the emails to save.

Thanks in advance

Your 3rd party email clients setting used IMAP or POP3 for incoming mail?
IMAP store all messages on server. POP3 store on client device. So if you setup POP3 on 3rd party client -then you can not see messages who was sent from him.
I think it basically your problem.

but If you use IMAP on 3rd party client then:
1. Check option like "not store sended message" -it can be exist
2. Compare special folders on RC and 3rd client. On RC go to SETTINGS - FOLDERS

And if you use some special SMTP sending tool (directly connected to smtp service) - so it can be use only SMTP service for sending and not store message.
