500 inboxes + roundcube?
« on: June 11, 2008, 09:24:52 PM »
Hi guys,

I am working on a project and I am searching a way to give every user his own email adress running roundcube. We are talking about 500 users.

As we are not running on a dedicated server and dont want to do so I am looking for a php based solution. My idea was to fetch all mails with fetchall and sort them by cronjob into a database. How difficult would it be to integrate this stuff into roundcube instead of the imap support?

Or is there a possibility to simulate an IMAP Service with PHP? We wont be able to afford 500 single IMAP boxes and to establish an interface for the automatic creation as we are going to do it for a school project.

Thanks a lot,
Yannis

So you want to use one E-mail with 500 users, each with their own inbox?
Noooooooot happening...

What is the school project? Unless you want to use one of the messages components and modify roundcube extensively, that isn't going to work.

Oops... There I go again, replying to posts a gazillion days out of date...

IMAP boxes dont "cost" anything...you could even get A $20 VPS and whack 500 email accounts...hey presto, your done!
