Hello to all,
I am using a 0.3 branch build of Roundcube (not sure which one - it was the latest SVN build when i fetched it). It works absolutely fine for a long time now, and have no plans on upgrading in the near future, as it has been extensively customized, and have a large number of users who don't like changes
I face only one issue which can be considered important. Sorting messages does not work as expected. I use Dovecot 1.2.16, and up-imapproxy. It is my understanding that Dovecot supports the IMAP4 SORT extension (
draft-ietf-morg-sortdisplay-03 - Display-Based Address Sorting for the IMAP4 SORT Extension), so I would expect Roundcube to utilize server-side sorting. however it does not. When sorting to 'From' field, it actually keeps sorting to the email address which can be very confusing. When I sort to 'Subject' it is still messy. Have no idea on what criteria it sorts. (I see even '(no subject') messages are not consecutive). I have read about this issue, so I 've experimented as follows:
1. Enabled caching (which should presumably solve this since it would start using SQL sorting). No luck.
2. Enabled/disabled index_sort. No luck.
3. Bypassed imapproxy, and connected directly to Dovecot. No luck.
I have also tried Roundcube 0.5RC. I have noticed the following behaviour:
With default configuration sorting is still messy. When I enable caching, sorting seems to be done in MySQL, and this solves the problem. However, as I have mentioned, I can't make the switch at the moment.
I also include my Dovecot info:
* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE STARTTLS AUTH=LOGIN AUTH=PLAIN] Dovecot ready.
1 capability
* CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE SORT SORT=DISPLAY THREAD=REFERENCES THREAD=REFS MULTIAPPEND UNSELECT IDLE CHILDREN NAMESPACE UIDPLUS LIST-EXTENDED I18NLEVEL=1 CONDSTORE QRESYNC ESEARCH ESORT SEARCHRES WITHIN CONTEXT=SEARCH LIST-STATUS QUOTA STARTTLS AUTH=LOGIN AUTH=PLAIN
1 OK Capability completed.
I would appreciate some help on this. Thank you and a happy new year to all of you.
