Cloning larry theme

Hello,

I need to customise a RC theme colours and logo only. No complex changes or other. I wonder if I download the standard larry theme and make the colour customisation and upload it back to the server with a new theme name, the new theme will not break with new RC versions that will be published in the near future. Any advice is welcome.
