Why is "Empty" option disabled when I have a folder selected?

Every time I have a folder selected, which could be Spam or whatever else, when I click on the gear icon on the bottom left side of the screen, that "empty" option is disabled and I'm only able to empty a folder from the Preferences > Folders screen.

Why is that? Am I missing something to enable on the installer script?
