RC 1.4 Inbox Preview Pane

Is it possible to change the RC 1.4 Inbox preview pane so it will be below the message (using the elastic theme)

It is not possible to change the location of the preview pane in the elastic theme.

Is there a way to turn off the preview pane? I have never liked having them enabled.
