Password Check Problem

If my password is for example 'p@ssword', I can log in using it or any other string which begins with 'p@ssw0rd'.

For example 'p@sw0rdasdjkfgasjldkasdhfa' would still allow access. Is this something related to my setup?

I'm using FC6, mySQL 5.0.27, PHP 5.1.6.
