Sudden IMAP connection failure

My email has been working fine up untill about 20 min ago and now all i get when i try to connect is IMAP connection error. What could have happened ?

just what it says, Roundcube cannot connect to your imap server. try telnetting from your webserver to the imap server and see if that can connect, and make sure your imap server is actually running obviously.
