Notification mail message
« on: August 28, 2009, 03:17:26 PM »
Hi there,

I manage a community which also holds mail accounts for some of the members (admins, moderators etc.). Roundcube is the preferred webmail client.

Now, these community mail comes rather seldom, which has led to a bad discipline when it comes to check the mail account.

Using mail forward or similar is not an option. All messages must be sent from the community account containing predefined reply addresses, and so on.

It would be of great help if a mail notification message was sent from the server application, to a user defined mail address. If the notify message contains a link to the new message ("the message is only one click ahead"), and some of the meta data of the message, it would be close to total satisfaction - from an admin point of view.

You could use something like the notify method in sieve to send out alerts when an email is received, you wouldn’t be able to link to the email directly since, I think, without opening RC there is no way to know what the link will be. You can specify a short message as part of the notification though so you could link to the login screen. Of course this will only work if your mail server supports sieve and the notify extension.
